Brit Properties has recently become the landlord for Digs with Dignity, a Chicago nonprofit that furnishes complete homes for families transitioning out of homelessness. Operating from Brit’s industrial building at 2700 W. Roosevelt, the organization collects, refurbishes, and installs donated furniture and home goods so families walk into a fully set up home.

A recent CBS News Chicago segment showcased the nonprofit’s process, including its warehouse operation and the environmental benefit of keeping usable items out of landfills. (CBS News)

“We are so glad to have this great new tenant,” said [Joel Friedland], Principal at Brit Properties. “Giving Digs with Dignity a functional, safe warehouse lets their team focus on families, quality, and speed.”

“Every finished home increases stability,” said Kim Haney, Executive Director at Digs with Dignity. “It supports mental health, job searches, and family life. A good warehouse makes that possible day after day.” (instagram.com)

Since launch, Digs with Dignity has served hundreds of Chicago families and diverted large volumes of furniture from landfills. The organization aims to expand its reach in 2026. (digswithdignity.org)
